Celebrate Curds With These Poutine Recipes

Winter is coming.

The seasons are changing and snow is approaching, and as we hunker down for the winter and ring in the New Year it’s a perfect time to acknowledge the culinary skills of our neighbors to the North. The Canadians are great in the winter, they have a few passions as a culture and one of them is the perfect comfort food for a cold winter day.

Poutine!

If you aren’t familiar with the delicious squeaky curd, French fry, and gravy delicacy—it’s just about time for you to go out and get educated. And when you’re making your poutine dreams a reality, there are no better cheese curds to use than our very own delicious, squeaky curds.

Here’s a list of 5 dishes that you can keep yourself warm and happy with this winter using Stoltzfus Family Dairy Natural Cheese Curds.

There will be no deviating from the theme of comfort food at its finest here. Poutine is at its core the epitome of comfort food—it is delicious, it is hearty, it is warm, and it fills you up and fills your heart with joy. If there is one food that might be more of a comfort food than the French fries in poutine it could very well be tater tots. French fries are good, but lets make them fatter and flakier… sounds good to me! Tater tot poutine takes that warm and fuzzy feeling that a good ole plate of tots gives you and makes it ten times more amazing by adding our Natural Cheese Curds to the mix.

Making a whole day of the poutine journey, these would make a great and easy to make lunch. Just try to make sure to leave room for the rest of the day’s poutine dishes.

Another great lunch or dinner dish that is chock full of our curdy goodness with a bit of Caribbean fusion would be some Jerk Chicken Poutine. This dish has a mixture of Northern flavor and Island zest that hasn’t been seen since Cool Runnings. The squeak of the cheese curds, the soft and salty fries, and the rich spicy flavor of the chicken… you’re going to want to give this one a try.

One important thing about the recipe to keep in mind is to replace the sliced mozzarella cheese with some of our natural cheese curds. Who makes poutine with sliced cheese?! Click HERE for the recipe.

Just the two words together are enough to make your mouth start watering. It’s the perfect lunch or dinner meal. A cheeseburger and fries is great, right? Well, what about a burger with cheese (curds) and fries… on it? This all North American delicacy is a great way to really put the best cheese in Central New York to work. I don’t want to say any more about it, other than look at this picture and try not to feel even a little bit hungry.
